Basting: The “quilt sandwich” is created and held together with parallel lines stitched across about 4-5 inches apart. The quilt sandwich is then ready for you to hand or machine quilt. If you choose water soluble thread, the basting can be removed by simply washing the quilt. $.005 per square inch. Add $6 for water soluble thread. Edge-to-Edge Quilting: One quilting pattern is quilted throughout the quilt in multiple rows, from left-side to right-side (edge-to-edge). This is the most economical method of quilting. Crib (40” x 50”) | $ 45 | Twin (60” x 90”) | $ 70 | Double (80” x 90”) | $ 85 | Queen (90” x 96”) | $ 95 | King (96” x 108”) | $110 |
All-Over Quilting: A single pattern is quilted over the entire quilt, or over the center of the quilt with borders quilted around it. The most effective all-over patterns repeat a design element from the fabrics. Prices for this style vary with the intensity of the pattern. Crib (40” x 50”) | $ 45 - $ 90 | Twin (60” x 90”) | $ 70 - $140 | Double (80” x 90”) | $ 85 - $170 | Queen (90” x 96”) | $ 95 - $190 | King (96” x 108”) | $110 - $220 |
Minimum Charge: Note that there is a minimum quilting charge of $45. Pieced Blocks: This is a unique quilting pattern designed especially for your quilt top to enhance the patterns created in piecing. It is usually a combination of different stitching patterns appropriate for the different blocks. This can be the most fun to design and the most effective for the finished work of art. Prices range from $.018 to $.04 per square inch, based on the intensity of the design. Appliqué: Appliqué is a work of art in itself and deserves to be shown off with the quilting patterns. LTL Quilts creates quilting that echoes and enhances the elements of the appliqué. Prices range from $.02 to $.05 per square inch, based on the intensity of the design. Trapunto: Machine Trapunto starts with an appliquéd figure, then adds an extra layer of batting behind certain elements to make them “pop”. The padding is stitched to the quilt top with water soluble thread, and then trimmed before the quilt is loaded for final quilting. The Trapunto elements are then detail quilted for definition. Prices are $5 and up per element. Borders: A separate repeating pattern around the outside of the quilt that serves as a frame. Coordinating border designs can make a big difference in the finished quilt. There is a flat charge per border for this option regardless of quilt size, since the quilt must be removed from the machine, rotated 90 degrees and reloaded. Additional borders must be designed individually to fall correctly within the quilt pattern. The cost for the first border is $25; additional borders are $12.50 each. Squaring and Trimming: One of the facts of working with fabric is that, no matter how careful we all are, the finished quilt sandwich will have irregularities in the edges. These result from minor differences in cutting and piecing, uneven or wavy borders, and variations in the intensity of the quilting elements. With this service, LTL Quilts will square up the quilt and trim all edges to create a uniform edge ready for binding. This service is $25 per quilt. Binding: LTL Quilts provides a mitered binding with piping to frame and finish the quilt. Binding service includes squaring and trimming the quilt, preparing the binding and piping, and attaching it to the quilt. (You supply fabric that coordinates with your quilt for the binding and piping.) If you select the Binding service, you will receive a finished quilt, ready to display and use. This service is $.20 per linear inch. All prices are effective through August 2006 and are subject to change thereafter. |
