 | When machine quilting on a longarm machine, the top and backing are each loaded separately and rolled on long rods. Therefore they need to be separate and unadorned in order to roll smoothly. Following are some tips to help you prepare your top for longarm machine quilting: Top must be clean with all seams pressed flat; Clip threads and remove all pins and basting; If your quilt top or backing has a head and foot, please indicate the head of the quilt and backing with masking tape. Backing fabric should be larger than the quilt top by 3" to 4" on each side. Do not attach to the quilt top. If you have an idea about how you want the quilting done, include a sketch or special instructions that might be helpful for your desired look. If LTL Quilts is doing the binding, include one yard of fabric for binding and ¼ yard of contrasting fabric for piping. (For King size quilts, include 1¼ yards for binding and 1/3 yard for piping.) Any unused fabric will be returned with your quilt. Complete the order form and include it with your quilt. I accept personal checks and request that you include a 50% deposit along with the quilt. However, if you are not sure what you want or what the charges will be, I will email or mail you an invoice with the charges itemized and you can mail a personal check or money order before quilting is begun. Final payment will be required before the quilt is returned to you.
